A Site With A History Of Health And Law
The healthcare landscape in Halifax saw a significant advancement in 1838 with the construction of the new Halifax Infirmary and Dispensary on this site at Blackwall and Carlton Street.
Upon the site's clearance, the Halifax Borough Council immediately began construction for a new civic complex. This project was to house a court complex and police station, resulting in the familiar building standing today. The construction was formally recognized in 1898 with a grand ceremony where the cornerstones were laid by the mayor and the chairman of the Watch Committee. Two years later, the impressive new Borough Court and Borough Police headquarters were officially opened for business, marking the site's transformation from a centre of healthcare to one of law and order.
When it closed in 2016 its future looked bleak. That is, until the imposing building was bought by O&C, and converted into beautiful, serene space for health and wellbeing, once again.

The Wellness Centre has been created to provide practitioners and businesses with affordable, comfortable, modern wellbeing spaces in which to service their clients' needs. The development provides individual rooms To Let, ranging in size from 250 sq ft to 5,000 sq ft.

Two lifts offer inclusive, convenient access to all floors. Monitored CCTV, video door entry, and bespoke access controls enhance the feelings of safety and security.
Wellbeing by design.
Individual suites have been professionally designed to offer clients and customers a sense of symmetry and calm. Exposed architectural features have been combined with modern conveniences such as air conditioning, broadband service points, secondary glazing and LED lighting. To make life easier the facilities also include showers, break-out spaces, parking, interior planting and daylight bulbs.
Storage & Convenience.
The lower ground floor has been fitted to provide a self-storage facility with independent, street-side access, CCTV, video door access controls and a temperature-controlled environment. Storage units are available under a separate license agreement, starting from £25.00 per month (excluding VAT).
What about Parking?
The site has its own car park plus plenty of on- and off-street parking. We can also offer town-centre secure parking options, including accessible bays, electric charging points, and motorbike spaces. We also have secure bicycle storage.
